How to File a Divorce in Michigan?

by Michigan Divorce Attorney -DivorceEx.com on 12/07/19

Can I get a divorce in Michigan?

To get a divorce in Michigan, you or your spouse must meet the following residency requirement:

  • You or your spouse has lived in Michigan for at least six months prior to filing for divorce.

If you meet the residency requirement, you or your spouse can initiate the divorce process by filing a divorce complaint.

In Michigan, you do not need to prove any wrongdoing on your spouse’s part to get a divorce (in other words, you can pursue a no-fault divorce). In other words, you must show that your relationship is over and you cannot repair it.

If you need to speak with our Michigan Divorce Lawyers, call (248) 281-6299 or just visit our main website DivorceEx.com.
